Uzbekistan records no gold exports for 6 consecutive months

TASHKENT, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan has exported no gold in the first quarter of 2026, marking six consecutive months of suspended external sales of the precious metal, according to new data from the National Statistics Committee.

The data showed that no shipments of gold were made to international markets during the period. In contrast, gold exports during the same period in 2025 amounted to 3.57 billion U.S. dollars.

The suspension of gold sales began in October 2025 and has persisted through the first quarter of 2026, despite sustained high prices for the metal on the global market.

Central Bank of Uzbekistan Chairman Timur Ishmetov earlier stated that the country sees no direct impact from the halt in gold exports.
