Brazil will have three privatised airports

The Brazilian Defence Minister, Nelson Jobim, has announced that Rio's two state-owned international airports, are to be taken over by public companies.

In an effort to ease air traffic congestion, he said, the Tom Jobim and Campinas Viracopos airports would be fully privatised.

He said both airports need renovations to expand their traffic capacity to ease the air traffic congestion in Sao Paulo's airports.

He also said a new private airport is set to be built in Sao Paulo metro area.

Sao Paulo's airports are currently the busiest in South America.
