Google looks for flu symptoms on the Internet

Google has launched an application which will track the spread of influenza in the United States.
Google analysed on-line patterns which showed Americans searching for advice from online doctors before going to their own medical center.
Google has said their method may be able to warn of a flu epidemic up to 10 days earlier than existing techniques.
Google will make its US data available to the World Health Organisation which will test the effectiveness of the information.
