Pakistani militants die in US drone strike
Uzbekistan News.Net Friday 20th November, 2009
The US launched a missile strike at Taliban rebels in northwest Pakistan on Friday, killing eight of the Islamists
The raids were conducted over militant ground, where a fortified compound was believed to be situated near the town of Mir Ali in North Waziristan, on the Afghan border.
The United States has carried out 45 attacks with drone missile-firing aircraft in northwest Pakistan this year.
Pakistan has made official objections to US strikes within its territory, even though the Pakistani army has been finding it difficult to battle militants in South Waziristan.
But US officials have claimed the strikes are being made through undercurrent agreements with the Pakistani government, which still allow its leaders to criticise the attacks. Email this story to a friend
