Uzbekistan News.Net
Thursday 29th July, 2010 (IANS)

A strong undersea tremor hit southern Philippines Thursday but no tsunami alert was issued, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The 6.4-magnitude quake, which occurred around 3:31 p.m. local time, had a depth of 618.8 km. The epicentre was estimated at 125 km southwest of Cotabato city, Xinhua reported.

No casualties were reported.

The Philippines sits on the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity. The worst earthquake in the country happened Aug 16, 1976 when a tsunami killed between 5,000 and 8,000 people in the Moro Gulf region in southern Philippines.

Yes,Noynoy is having a top time copping up with the goverment problems. He is surrounded with corrupt appointees and additionally will be bringing problem is him.He is uncapable handling the most complex state proble. We never know he might sell Mindanao to Malaysia for a mare 20 pisos that bare the picture of his father. To be the President of the Philippines you much be tough and smart to handle the on going problem.Noynoy did not learn anything from his old college professor
former Gloria M Arroyo.I believed he is one of her student in economics class. As a slow learner he will have a tough time governing the island. What did he do in the senate but nothing but watch. His elected as senate is a plain token because of his parent.
