TASHKENT -- A gas explosion has killed two people and injured two others, destroying part of a house in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations said Monday.

MAIDAN SHAR, Afghanistan -- Airstrikes against militants have killed three insurgents and thwarted Taliban fighters' design to target security checkpoints in Sayed Abad district of the eastern Wardak province, said an army statement released here Monday.
A group of Taliban militants were gathered in Salar area of Sayed Abad district on Sunday night to storm security checkpoints, but the fighting planes in pre-emptive action targeted the gathering and killed three militants, forcing the rest to flee, the statement added. ISLAMABAD -- Thirteen people were killed and 15 others injured in a passenger van-bus collision in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province on Monday morning, local media reported.
The accident happened when the van hit into the bus coming from the opposite direction in Punjab's Sheikhupura district, the report said, adding that low visibility due to foggy weather was a factor in the fatal incident.

JAKARTA -- Ten people were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Indonesia's West Java province on Monday, according to the local police.
Accident happened at around 3 a.m. local time involving a minibus and two trucks on the Cipali Toll Road, said West Java's senior police traffic official Eddy Djunaedi.
The accident occurred when a bus traveling from Jakarta hit a lorry truck, and then the lorry hit another truck in front of it. (Indonesia-Road Accident)
