BEIJING, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia will launch a nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign on Tuesday, with frontline workers in health and security sectors receiving the first jabs, said Deputy Prime Minister Sainbuyan Amarsaikhan.

Amarsaikhan, also head of State Emergency Commission, made the announcement early Monday while attending the handover ceremony of 150,000 doses of the Covishield, a vaccine co-developed by the University of Oxford and pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca and produced by the Serum Institute of India.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia on Monday confirmed 35 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the kingdom to 568, said a Ministry of Health (MoH) statement.

The new infections included 31 locally-transmitted cases in capital Phnom Penh and southern Kandal province and four imported cases, the statement said, adding that the new patients are currently undergoing treatment at various designated COVID-19 hospitals.

CANBERRA -- COVID-19 vaccines have arrived around Australia as the country begins its long-awaited rollout.

Thousands of doses of Pfizer's vaccine arrived in Australia's states and territories in specially designed "thermal shippers" that maintain temperatures lower than negative 70 degrees centigrade.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally crossed the 11-million mark, reaching 11,005,850 on Monday as 14,199 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.

According to the official data, the death toll mounted to 156,385 as 83 COVID-19 patients died since Sunday morning.

BEIJING -- As of Monday, the COVID-19 threat level in the last existing medium-risk areas on the Chinese mainland had been downgraded to low, marking the mainland's elimination of all medium- and high-risk areas for COVID-19.

The local anti-epidemic headquarters in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province made the decision on Monday to downgrade the county of Wangkui, where cluster infections were reported in early January, to a low-risk area, as no new confirmed or asymptomatic cases were reported over the past two weeks.

BUENOS AIRES -- The Argentine government officially approved the emergency use of an inactivated COVID-19 vaccine developed by Chinese pharmaceutical firm Sinopharm, according to a resolution signed Sunday by the country's Minister of Health Carla Vizzotti.

The resolution was signed by Vizzotti after the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology advised the Ministry of Health to include the Sinopharm vaccine into the national inoculation plan against COVID-19.

LOS ANGELES -- Three Navy sailors aboard the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, who tested positive for COVID-19, were flown to Naval Base Guam Sunday, The Guam Daily Post reported.

Guam Governor Lou Leon Guerrero was quoted as saying that she was informed ahead of time and agreed with moving the sailors off the battleship to seek medical care here on Guam.
