BEIJING, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

KABUL -- Afghanistan has registered 94 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of patients infected with the disease to 56,873 in the country, the Ministry of Public Health said on Tuesday.

"Laboratories conducted 2,372 tests during the past 24 hours, out of the total tests 94 were positive COVID-19 cases in 11 out of Afghanistan's 34 provinces" the ministry said in a statement.

JAKARTA -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 4,549 within one day to 1,542,516, with the death toll adding by 162 to 41,977, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

According to the ministry, 4,296 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 1,385,973.

MANILA -- The Philippines recorded 382 deaths related to COVID-19 on Tuesday, the highest daily death toll in the Southeast Asian country, bringing its total fatalities to 13,817, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

The DOH also reported 9,373 new coronavirus infections, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 812,760.

The DOH explained that 341 deaths went unreported due to "a technical issue with the case collection systems" over the past week.

MOSCOW -- Russia confirmed 8,328 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, taking its nationwide tally to 4,597,868, the official monitoring and response center said Tuesday.

COVID-19 related deaths increased by 389 to 101,106. A total of 8,902 patients have recovered from the pandemic over the previous day, raising the cumulative recovery count to 4,220,035.

Moscow, the hardest hit in Russia, logged 1,747 new infections, taking the capital's total to 1,038,190.
