BEIJING, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 24 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 60,519.

All of the new cases are imported cases.

MUSCAT -- The Omani health ministry on Tuesday announced 1,208 new COVID-19 infections, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the sultanate to 165,482, the official Oman News Agency reported.

Meanwhile, 764 people recovered during the past 24 hours, taking the overall recoveries to 148,303 while six deaths were reported, pushing the death toll up to 1,728, according to a ministry statement quoted by ONA.

MANILA -- Philippine Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said on Tuesday that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

Lorenzana said in a statement that he would isolate, "following quarantine guidelines to avoid infecting others."

KABUL -- Afghanistan has registered 94 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of patients infected with the disease to 56,873 in the country, the Ministry of Public Health said on Tuesday.

"Laboratories conducted 2,372 tests during the past 24 hours, out of the total tests 94 were positive COVID-19 cases in 11 out of Afghanistan's 34 provinces" the ministry said in a statement.
