KABUL -- The government of Afghanistan declared Tuesday as a national mourning day to pay tribute to the victims of the recent terror attacks on a girl school in Kabul and on a group of students in eastern Logar province.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a statement, besides condemning the attacks on school in the strongest term, said "Taliban by increasing coward act of terrorism once again demonstrated that the group doesn't believe in political solution to the country's crisis and rather sabotaging the peace process."

MANILA -- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has placed the Southeast Asian country under a state of calamity for one year to address the impact from the outbreak of African swine fever, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said on Tuesday.

BOGOTA -- Colombian President Ivan Duque on Monday warned that protests could lead to a rise in COVID-19 cases, shortly before sitting down to talks with members of the National Strike Committee in a bid to end days of chaos.

"We have seen an increase in movement in many parts of the country, with much interaction between citizens in recent days amid a third peak (in infections), and I must send the message that we must all take care of ourselves," Duque said at the government headquarters.
